What I love about this piece

This piece almost reminds me of an aurora borealis. The colors move across the islands in a way that feels like light shifting through the sky.

The Big Island is the anchor here, with a central crystal and banding that pulls inward. That sense of movement is what led to the name Vortex.

I also left areas of natural sediment and raw crystal throughout, especially along the coasts of Maui and O‘ahu. It’s something I really value in my work, keeping parts of the stone untouched so the piece still feels grounded and real.
